If My Head Wasn't Screwed On

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh, we all know I tend to lose things sometimes, or misplace things or forget about things, blah, blah BLAH. That's old news. Like two weekends ago when I was walking out of a brunch place and Katie says, "uh, Wendy?" and holds up my purse. *Yawn* It's been done before.

So yesterday I was telling Katie on MSN that I (well, Erin) discovered the gift card Lila gave me for christmas. It was still taped to the bottom of these amazing cookie cutters that I had laying on my counter. Score!!

Wendy says:
i found a 25 dollar gift card from second cup on saturday
Wendy says:
well erin found it
Wendy says:
underneath my cookie cutters from lila
Wendy says:
best discovery of the weekend!
Katie says:
This surprises me the least of everything you have told me today.

Are You There, Landlord? It's Me, Wendy.

I've been living on my own for eight months now - plenty of time, I think, to form an opinion on the situation. And it's come to my attention that no, I don't love living alone. I love the freedom of being single, but I don't love having my own place. There are ups and downs, and that doesn't mean that living with someone would necessarily be better, you know? Having a roommate would pose its share of problems as well, even with your ideal companion. I think that maybe I have the best arrangement that exists - living by myself with a best friend only three floors above. When both of us are free, it's just like having a roomie, but at the end of the day you can go to the privacy of your own place. But when she's busy, I get B-O-R-E-D!

What I Don't Love About Living Solo
* Paying all the rent.
* Watching my favourite shows alone (much better watching on Hannah's 52 inch screen, haha!).
* The quiet.
* Occasional loneliness (aw).
I don't know, man - would living with somebody else be better, though? (Not talking relationship-wise) That person would have to be someone I could just chill with, without saying a word.. someone who I feel totally comfortable with and want to have around, right? There are few people who would make that list, but I think with those few, living with a roommate could be just as good as living alone. Most times. Whatever, I'm rambling here. I think I'm just grumpy about high rent and two days of being aloooooone. Get this girl some casual company, stat!

The Safety Kids, Playing It Cool

Did anyone else listen to the Safety Kids when they were wee? You know, before you were interested in Madonna or NKOTB or Tiffany, but after you were interested in Raffi. They popped into my head recently - this vinyl album that taught us  not to talk to strangers, even though we already knew that. I still remember a couple of the tunes, just snippets here and there. I'm pretty sure my fave was the song that went, "no, no, no, no, NO!" Nothing like screaming "no" at the top of your lungs when you're 6 and taught to use your indoor voice at any other time.

And check it - you can still order the album! In CD form, not vinyl anymore, alas.

ETA: On second thought, after listening to the clips, this was not post-Raffi material. It's funny how you can remember something being a lot cooler than it realistically was, you know?

Yes, Tis Me!

The best rubber boots I ever owned were red (of course). They had a big smiley face on the bottom and I never took them off. These were also the last pair of rubber boots I've ever owned, but I think, going on 23 years later, I need to find myself a replica pair.

Work Julie passed me by with the fiercest pair of rubber boots yesterday, and told me to rush over to Get Outside cause there were slim pickins for sizes. This place had at least 8 different patterns of rubbers - so adorable and perfect for a slushy-going-on-rainy early spring. But in the end, since I'm trying to save money for ~*~future plans~*~ and ~*~paying rent~*~, I left empty handed. No puddle stompin' for this girl!

But things got way better. I stopped in at Fresh for lunch and the soup was curried yam and apple. OMG. I know some people (Lila) are making puke faces right now, but that's like a dream soup for me. Paired with their corn bread, I'm ready to die, thank you. (May not be true). AND THEN, I pulled out my dusty gift card and there was still enough balance to buy my lunch! Cha-ching!

Waiting for my order, I noted the cute re-usable bags on the wall. Lots of bright colours and nestled in a tiny pouch, to boot. They're called Baggu - I totally bought one and am excited to have the freedom of carrying it in my purse. I never get to really use my re-usable grocery bags cause most of the time I stop at the store on my way home from work or whatever. Now, I'm prepared for anything (that relates to carrying food)!

You're Still In My Heart ... Mostly

It's not that I've forgotten - it's more like I've found a pet project, if you will.

Will Mikey Eat It

Get it? Pet?! I am so lame.
